Short Horror Film

As part of our group, we had 3 weeks to create a storyboard, shoot and edit a short horror film to present to the rest of the class for some feedback.
The film was titled 'The End' and was based on a persons commute to university which was disrupted by an all white figure appearing and threatening to catch the victim.
The entire film was shot using a Canon 700D, an iPhone 6 camera and a tripod.
Due to us shooting outside in natural light on a particular gloomy day, we chose to edit the entire film in black and white. The black and white colour also really added to the creepy feel of the film and made the white figure stand out even more. For the sound, it was decided that in order to build up tension, it could be done mostly silent apart from the opening and closing scene which was put in place in order to make the audience jump.
Everything in terms of filming went to plan although when it came to editing, it was apparent that our intital idea of using a split screen for the phone scene wasn't going to work as our actor needed to be placed in a different position in order for the both shots to be shown fully on each half of the screen.

When it came to showing the film during Mondays class, the feedback we received was mostly positive. However, it was noted how we could have reduced the amount of camera shake in one particular scene which will come with practicing more with a tripod. It was also mentioned that the photo of the text message should of instead been recorded from a POV shot and a low volume of music played throughout to help build up more tension.
If we were to shoot the film again, all of the above would definitely be taken into account. We could also use a wide range of lighting to create shadows to give the illusion that the white figure had been there all along.
